Back from our break |
|
|
Well we're off break and back to playing! We just started preseason of CAL-O again for the third time since starting the clan. Over the past few months there have
been a few changes to the clan. As of now, Catalyst and Lman are the two leaders of the clan. As usual I am sponsoring the clan but not playing in any
of the matches. We've recruited a few more guys to the team: StormKat and Unre4l. The rest of the team is made up past members. Our first preseason CAL
match ended with a tie of 15-15. GG perpetuaL motion #perpetual

Taking A Break |
|
Outsiders Rage has decided to take a break. We've all been playing CS for far to long and with HL2 coming out and CS Source as well, we've decided
part ways and let everyone go where they want to go. Many of us are in college or on the brink of going and feel that CS may be a waste of
time and effort. Its been fun. I will keep this site going as long as people still keep coming to it. You can also post on the forums www.clanor.com/forums.

A Message From Joeman |
|
in fake life: a look at gamers
by Joey "JoeMan" Sands
I've been involved with the online multiplayer scene since I was in the eighth grade, over five years ago. I remember playing TFC for days after I got half-life, having a ton of fun, and then moving on to Counter-Strike, back in the beta days. Beta 4, 5, 6, 7 : exciting times, fun times, when you went into a public server and felt at home. Times when you were greeted by all the friendly players, everyone happy to see you there, ready to frag away. Of course, we all know times have changed, and the shift to noobs and jerks has already been documented, so I won't go into that. I'd rather talk about people on a more individual basis.
I may be the most unlucky gamer there is. It's taken me a long time to realize this, but it is now evident to me that regardless of how close you think you are to your online "friends", you are gravely mistaken. I've been betrayed, cast aside, forgotten about, by so many guys over the years who I called my friends. I don't see how you can spend hours each day hanging out with someone and not develop some kind of bond, yet, it seems I am the only one with this burden, this plague of growing close to people who would just as soon forget me.
In the past I assumed I just happened upon the wrong guys. From |-LORD-|Omega, the leader of the first real clan I was in, to, most recently, BlackIce, who I've known since the beta days: gamers seem to have no sense of friendship, loyalty. In |-LORD-|, after six months I worked way my up to co-leader, only then to be booted by Omega and have my "friends" turned against me, as he felt that I had gained too much power in the clan. Just the other day, BlackIce, the great guy he is, decided he doesn't feel like playing with us anymore... in the middle of a CAL season!?!?!? Where does this selfishness come from- this disregard for other people? Is it just gamers? I don't see this trait in my friends in real life. Could it be gamers? Is this our nature? I would hate to believe that, but I have too much proof. I just cant understand it. This kid Mikie from my clan leaves for like three weeks (again, in the middle of the CAL season), continually promising me that when he comes back he'll be so dedicated and all this crap. Right. The kid comes back a couple days ago and tells me he doesn't think he wants to play anymore. Huh? Is this the same Mikie that I remember doing 2v2's with for hours at a time? Is this the same Mikie that I played 1v1 at aim_map for hours while we talked on ventrilo? Would he just abandon me too? I guess so.
I've been with OR! for a long time now, and there is only one person that I feel is truly loyal to ME. Our owner. Though he has always shown unwavering confidence in me online, I still don't know if I could trust him if I hadn't met him in real life. Is meeting someone in the real world the only way that they will recognize you as a person- someone with emotions, feelings, etc? To the thousands of people I've met over the years of gaming... was I just a bot? Just a character they knew from their computer, like one from a comic book. At least in the eyes of some I may have been one of the good guys.
I'll be heading to college soon, and will probably get away from the gaming scene. I'm going to meet a lot of new people, make a lot of new friends. I'm confident that most of the people i meet in real life see me for who I am.

Outsiders Rage wins 7th CAL Match!!! |
|
Last night, Outsiders Rage played our 7th CAL-O Match of the season. We played a team called "i" (#i) on de_inferno.
Starters in the match included:
Catalyst
Swifty
Denton
Spinal
JoeMan
The final score of the match came out to be an astounding 20-4. GG i. With this weeks win, Outsiders Rage is now 6-1-0 in CAL-O. With this win, Outsiders Rage will now make CAL-IM for next season and maybe even CAL-M depending on how we do in playoffs. The next map for CAL will be de_cbble. Tune in next Tuesday night for results!
Personal Note: When I started this clan, I never thought we would be where we are today. I knew we had the players to stand the test of time, but I never thought we would last this long. My only personal goal for this clan was to make CAL-IM which we have just accomplished. I would like to thank all the players who have stuck with us throughout all the hard times. Many of you have had to step up over the past and show your leadership skills. For this I thank you all.
I would also like to deticate this season to Van Zan and Ka'Shan. As many of you know, we would be nowhere without all the hard work they put in while they were in the clan. I would like to thank Van Zan for literally building this clan from the ground up. Every descent players I have has in some way or another came from him. I would also like to thank Ka'Shan for all the time he put into our strats, most of which we still use to this day. Thanks for all the help both of you have given the clan throughout the past.
